Installation

Initial setup

When you turn on your screen for the first time you must complete a setup guide. It varies slightly between models so the below steps and their order may not be exact. In general you can skip all steps except Date, Time and Network settings.

  1. Select language and then Start
  2. Clone media files into internal: Select Skip
  3. Signage Display Settings: Select Skip
  4. Security Setting: Enable Unknown Sources installation if the option exists, then click Next
  5. Network Setting: Select and configure Ethernet and/or Wi-Fi as appropriate. Enable Ethernet if necessary. Proceed with Next
  6. Setup Complete: Select Finish

D-Line/P-Line/Q-line

Portrait orientation

  1. Click HOME on the remote.
  2. Select CONFIGURATION 2 and then ROTATION in the onscreen menu.
  3. Set OSD ROTATION to PORTRAIT and IMAGE ROTATION: ALL to On.

Configuration

Access the Android launcher/user interface

Using the remote control, press HOME (menu appears), followed by 1 8 8 8.

  1. Important! Make sure to set correct date and time in the screen.
  2. Download the Smartsign Android Player
  3. Place the APK file on a USB Flash drive
  4. Plug the USB Flash drive into the screen
  5. Open “Storage” or “File Manager” and browse to the connected drive. It’s either shown with the name of the usb key or located using the path /mnt/usb_storage
  6. Select the downloaded APK file
  7. Choose to install the application (please see Unknown sources if it refuses)
  8. Once complete, select Open
  9. Approve any requested permissions
  10. Config should now launch automatically
  11. Select Server Address and input your server, then click OK (hostname only)
    • EU Cloud service: eu.smartsigncloud.com
    • AU Cloud service: au.smartsigncloud.com
    • On-premises: Use the hostname or IP that your server is configured with
  12. Adjust other settings to your liking
  13. Exit (press back on remote)
  14. Smartsign Player will launch automatically, connect to the configured server and show a registration code
  15. Exit the player again (press back on the remote)
  16. Navigate to Settings -> Signage Display -> Source settings -> Custom App
  17. Select Smartsign Player and then Save
  18. Press Home on the remote control, the on-screen display menu (OSD) will appear
  19. Select Configuration 1 -> Boot on source
  20. Select Input: Custom
  21. Exit the OSD by pressing back on the remote
  22. Press Source on the remote, and select Custom
  23. This will launch the player again and display the registration code
  24. Complete the setup by registering the screen in Smartsign

Configuration

Access the Android launcher/user interface

Hold the physical rounded button on the back of the display and press two times on the physical volume down button also on the back of the display. You will be asked for a passcode, the standard one is 1234.

  1. Important! Make sure to set correct date and time in the screen.
  2. Download the Smartsign Android Player
  3. Place the APK file on a USB Flash drive
  4. Plug the USB Flash drive into the screen
  5. Open “Storage” or “File Manager” and browse to the connected drive. It’s either shown with the name of the usb key or located using the path /mnt/usb_storage
  6. Select the downloaded APK file
  7. Choose to install the application (please see Unknown sources if it refuses)
  8. Once complete, select Open
  9. Approve any requested permissions
  10. Config should now launch automatically
  11. Select Server Address and input your server, then click OK (hostname only)
    • EU Cloud service: eu.smartsigncloud.com
    • AU Cloud service: au.smartsigncloud.com
    • On-premises: Use the hostname or IP that your server is configured with
  12. Adjust other settings to your liking
  13. Exit (press back on remote)
  14. Smartsign Player will launch automatically, connect to the configured server and show a registration code
  15. Complete the setup by registering the screen in Smartsign
Hide the menu bar!

Before you leave, make sure to hide the menu bar so it doesn't appear when interacting with the screen.
Go to Settings -> System Tools -> Navigation Bar and set it to Disabled.
